TTT #6 - Books That Feature Characters Who...

Tuesday 28 April 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish as usual. This weeks prompt is 'Books That Feature Characters Who...' and I've gone with Characters Who Remind Me of Myself because I figured it'd be fun and interesting to analyse my personality in other characters.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before (Lara Jean) - The reasoning behind this being that for the majority of the book she would rather crush on people from afar and then when she's ready to move on, she writes letters to them in order to get over her crush without actually sending the letter. I don't write letters to my old crushes but for the first 15/16 or so years of my life I would rather DIE than let my crush know that I fancied them, unless someone forced my hand there was no way in hell that it would happen. Peter K said this and it made an awful lot of sense "You only like guys you don't have a chance with, because you're scared".

Girl Online (Penny) - She has anxiety, I have anxiety. She went to New York, I'd DIE to go to New York. She had friends who didn't care much about her or how she felt, same goes for me. She has a hot, funny, artistic boyfriend and I wish that I did too. We're a match made in heaven.

Throne of Glass (Celaena Sardothien) - Maybe this one is more wishful thinking, but I'm as badass as her in my head so that's all that counts really.

All The Bright Places (Finch) - I like the idea of being different people. Maybe that's one of the reasons I went into acting when I was younger, because I always wanted to be someone other than myself. I'm constantly thinking about what and who I'm perceived as to other people. I know that I can be different versions of myself around different people and that nobody has the full picture. It makes me feel more 3D, like there is more than one side to me. Finch is always shaping his 'character' into someone new like '80s Finch' not a real example. although it might be. i get major book amnesia. and although my change isn't as outward as Finch I think we really connect on that front.

Fangirl (Cath) - If you're reading this then chances are you're a book blogger, which means that chances are you're a complete book nerd which means that chances are you can find a piece of yourself in my beloved Cath. Cath is awkward, would rather starve herself than ask someone where the cafeteria is, gives up on her writing when things get too hard and she's completely in love with Levi. We have all of these things in common. Especially being in love with Levi, we bonded over it one night. Seriously, it's almost like Cath is me and my best friend at the same time. I love it.

Since You've Been Gone (Emily) - When Sloane (Emily's best friend) leaves, Emily finds it extremely hard but she eventually gets over it when she starts hanging out with some new people. This is real, this is me well it will be soon. A couple of years ago I had to leave the school that I had been at for 5 years, I had to leave behind the only friends that I knew and try and make new ones and it was the most terrifying thing that I've ever done, but it all worked out in the end and now I've met even better friends that I know will be there for me. At the end of this year, I'll have to do the same. Except this time, it's not me leaving. I failed my first year of A Levels which basically means that I have to do the year again, meaning that all of my friends will be going off to uni a year earlier than I will so I'm going to be stuck in lonely old London all by myself. I've made new friends at my new college and I'm absolutely sure that we'll grow even closer next year. I'll be fine. Just like Emily, everything will turn out great.

The Book Thief (Liesel) - She loves to read so much that she is willing to steal books. In Nazi Germany. I am caught between admiration and complete fear of this little girl. She loves to read though, I wouldn't be doing all of this if I didn't love to read. It's all there.

Siege and Storm (Nikolai) - We're both a little full of ourselves. We both respond to insults with narcissism. I think we're pretty much the same. Here is an example: When mentioning trying to threaten to Nikolai that Prince's bleed just like men, Nikolai responds with "Yes, they just do it in better clothes" and I think that's beautiful. I love Nikolai. Nikolai is my favourite.

The DUFF (Bianca) - We've both felt insecure around our friends and we sure as hell realised that we're both as pretty as our friends and there is no need to be insecure. The one thing I don't have though is someone hot to make out with, which sucks but you can't have it all I guess.

Finding Sky (Sky) - I only have one thing to say here: We both need telepathic powers to win a game of football.

  1. Oh my goodness! This is the best topic I have seen today. I definitely need to do this sometime, there are so many characters I relate to as well! I so agree that we all have a little Cath in us.

  2. HA, when I'm really nervous I always imagine I'm a bad-ass like Celaena. I call it 'channeling my inner Celaena' :') Don't we all wish to be as cool as she is? LIESEL. I have so much love for her. I want to be sassy like Nikolai :D

    1. If the day comes when I find someone who doesn't want to be as cool as Celaena I'll probably like...cry myself to sleep that night. Nikolai is the BOMB.
