TTT #5 - Auto-Buy Authors.

Tuesday, 21 April 2015

Top Ten Tuesdsay is hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish. The prompt was technically 'All Time Favourite Authors' but that was WAY too mean so I narrowed it down to Auto-Buy Authors which is technically the same, but different. Be prepared for Contemporary Author overload.

Cassandra Clare: Especially if it has anything to do with The Shadowhunters. There is something about Cassandra's writing and her personality that makes me want to fall in love with reading and books and stories all over again (even though I've never stopped being in love with books and stories and reading). The Mortal Instruments series is one of the most treasured series on my bookshelf and nothing can stop me from adding to my Cassandra Clare book collection.

Stephanie Perkins: Everything about her books and her writing is perfection. It's so easy to get sucked in and by the end of Anna I honestly felt like I was a part of the friendship group and when I put the book down it was like I had entered an alternate reality in my own bedroom it sadly was just reality though.

Ally Carter: The Gallagher Girls series, All Fall Down? Perfection. The only books I need to complete my Ally Carter collection are the Heist Society books. And I do not say 'need' lightly. If only I could find them all in matching covers at the same shop on the same day. It shouldn't be so hard.

John Green: I ended up owning all of his books without even realising it and enjoying almost every single one so I doubt, should Mr Green release any more books, that I'm going to stop buying them now. They're all so pretty and so GOOD and John Green makes me laugh and if someone makes me laugh, I'm going to buy their books. Simple. Unless, of course, the person doesn't have any books then it is literally impossible for me to buy their books even if they make me laugh. I would also like to add, in light of realising that it sounds like I don't like John Green's books, that I do, in fact, adore both his books and his writing.

Sarah J Maas: I think this pretty much goes without saying. The Throne of Glass series is PERFECTION and if ACOTAR has a kick-ass character anything like Celaena then I'm down. In fact, even if it doesn't I'm still down because Sarah's writing is incredible. I have no doubts that any books she publishes in the future will be anything less than 4-5 stars and I am not missing out on that action. Trust me.

Jenny Han: You guys know I love contemporary and Jenny Han is basically the Queen of Contemporary. If she released a book and I was considering not getting it then I would be so disappointed in myself. I made a vow long ago to always read Jenny Han and I refuse to break that vow. Also, reading To All The Boys really sealed the deal for me, there is no going back after that masterpiece.

Rainbow Rowell: Forget Lizzie McGuire singing 'have you ever seen such a beautiful night'. Wipe it from your memories. Now imagine she's up on stage, clutching Fangirl and singing 'have you ever read such beautiful words' and that's exactly how everyone should talk about a Rainbow Rowell book. I will never not read a Rainbow Rowell book. Ever. I also know that I said I'd try to refrain from talking about Fangirl for a while but it's my favourite contemporary. How can I not talk about Fangirl? How is that even possible?

Holly Smale: The Geek Girl books and I have been through too much together to pull out from the race now. I will read all of them, I will love all of them, I will not regret a single thing. Well, except the fact that my signed copy of Picture Perfect is a hardback next to the other two paperbacks -queue exasperated sigh- but it'll all be worth it in the end.

Sarah Dessen: It's on my bucket list to read every single Sarah Dessen novel. Every. Single. One. I think that explains it enough. I've a long way to go though, having only read three so far.

Colleen Hoover: There's something about Colleen Hoover's writing that just makes me want to devour it all. Her stories are tantalising and I'm addicted. I want, no I need, them all. One day soon, I will have a Colleen Hoover collection.

  2. Sarah J. Maas is a legitimate queen and both the wait for ACOTAR and Queen of Shadows is PAINFUL. The rest of your list is pretty damn on point and I completely agree with all of them, especially Jenny Han. The Summer I Turned pretty trilogy will always be an all time contemporary favorite <3

    1. ESPECIALLY QUEEN OF SHADOWS. The ending of Heir of Fire left me emotionally unstable for DAYS.

Thanks for stopping by, Mariah :)

  3. ACOTAR is just as kick-ass as Throne of glass, but in a different way that made me admire Sarah even more. I have so much love for both series <3

    1. EEEEEEEEEEK I'm SO excited for ACOTAR. I don't know if I've expressed that enough already. I'm hoping that it releases in paperback pretty soon bc I can't afford hardback editions </3

    1. I've been hearing quite a few people say that they didn't like ACOTAR very much and it's making me quite nervous. I'm still excited though because - as you said - she is QUEEN.

  6. I'm in loooooove with this list omg. Seeing Colleen Hoover in yours makes me realize I didn't include her in mine. Oh what a mistake. I'm so reticent to read the other books in The Throne of Glass series because it isn't finished yet but I WANT TO. I want to read Jenny Han too and The Mortal Instruments, because I still haven't done so. Ughghgh great list, Nat. :)
