March Wrap Up

Thursday 9 April 2015

Honestly, I don't even remember half of what went down in March. It's been such a whirlwind of a month and I'm so excited to share it with you guys.

  • The 4th and the 8th of March marked it as a year since I saw two of my favourite bands live for the very first time. 5 Seconds of Summer and All Time Low. It was a very emotional time for me, in all honesty, so I mostly just stayed at home listening to their music on repeat.
  • It was International Women's Day this month which, of course, meant that I had to get all soppy and write a huge speech on my instagram. No regrets.
  • I met up with one of my good friends, Georgia, and we watched the finale of The 100 together whilst eating a lot of unhealthy comfort food.
  • It was Mothers Day so I spent a lot of money on my beautiful Mum and spent the day making sure that we was happy and constantly had a cup of tea in her hand and then my grandparents and my brother and his girlfriend came over for a roast dinner.
  • NOW FOR THE GOOD BIT.
  • I had two All Time Low shows planned for the same weekend in March but what I didn't expect was to be able to MEET them. My friend let me know that they were due to be at a Radio station in London so I headed up in about 12 and waited in the freezing cold and wind for them to arrive and managed to get a picture with the lead singer, Alex. It was wonderful and I almost cried but I didn't.
  • Then of course it was the two shows that I had planned and overall it was just a very overwhelming weekend and I miss it dearly.

I actually have no idea what I've managed to read this month because my brain literally feels like mush but it's probably not an awful lot.

Ascend: I didn't like this book as much as I wanted to. I was severely disappointed with the ending and the 'war' aspect of it feeling that it wasn't what it had been built up to be over the course of the trilogy. If you want to know more about my thoughts you can check my review here. 2/5 Stars.

Siege and Storm: I loved Siege and Storm. It's the second installment in the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo and I wasn't disappointed. In my review here I talk about how it irritated me in parts but I still really loved it. 4/5 Stars.

Geek Drama: This book was a novella/short story that Holly Smale released for World Book Day. I thought it was a fun, quick read with the same Harriet Manners fashion for disaster and I loved it. 4/5 Stars.

Finding Cinderella: Again, this is a novella that can be read as a companion of the Hopeless series or on it's own. I read this book without having read the series and I still thought that it was great. I've never really been disappointed by any Colleen Hoover books that I've read so I knew that I would enjoy this short read. 4/5 Stars.

Poison Study: This was fantastic. I don't have much to say that isn't in my review but it's an incredible fantasy book that every YA lover needs to read. Honestly. And it gets major swoon points for Valek. 5/5 Stars.

Dangerous Girls: I'm still reeling from this book. I didn't know what to say in my review and I'm even more clueless as to what to say now but take my speechlessness as a cue that if you haven't read this book yet, then you absolutely need to do it. Especially if you love mystery. In fact, especially if you love good books. My review is here and I'm sure it's even more evasive than this one. 5/5 Stars.

Boomerang: Boomerang was a cute read but it was bordering on feeling exactly like every other New Adult I've read. There were parts when the romance was questionable - feeling more like lust than the love it was played out to be but I still enjoyed it and I would recommend it to those who need a light, cute, quick contemporary. 4/5 Stars.

  • 5 Seconds of Summer and All Time Low were my top two artists to listen to at the beginning of this month and then it was All Time Low for the rest of month until the news about Zayn came out and then I listened to One Direction until I stopped crying.
  • I went to see Insurgent and although I enjoyed it, I wasn't very impressed. It was a lack-lustre movie in my opinion to go along with a lack-lustre book. Miles Teller was truly incredible though.
  • The 100 finished this month and the finale was all sorts of intense. I won't give it away for those who haven't seen it but BELLARKE. TOGETHER. MAY WE MEET AGAIN. IT WAS ALL TOO MUCH.
  • The Pretty Little Liars finale also aired towards the end of this month and I wasn't surprised. It was intense and the episode was quite scary but I saw the 'A' reveal coming. Then again, when you read as many theories as I do it's going to be hard to be shocked. I'm excited for it to come back, I've started to love it again instead of it feeling like a 'filler' show.
  • I started Orange Is The New Black despite not having finished Teen Wolf (I've taken a break) and I'm loving it. I know a TON of people said that it's an amazing show but I guess I just didn't think that I would enjoy it. I was wrong.

"The truth is, it's not the act that I'm scared of, but giving myself so entirely to someone. As long as there are lines to draw and boundaries to cling to, I can pretend that I'm safe from the wanting that threatens to consume me. I'm separate, still all my own. But after...What then? What comes after, when he has that much of me, to do with as he chooses? When I have him. Will it ever be enough?" - Dangerous Girls

In the month of March I did an updated version of the Taylor Swift Book Tag. After that I took down all of my books from all of my shelves and I made a list of some of my favourite dedications that I've found in books I own. I then wrapped up February and took a trip down memory lane for the Nostalgia Book Tag. Feminism is important to me so I absolutely had to share some of my favourite things that make my Feminist heart extremely happy. I asked if any of my fellow book bloggers wanted to do a buddy read with me and complained about the difficulties of completing challenges. I didn't do any full reviews this month but I did four mini reviews and lastly I shared my meagre DNF list so far.

Most Popular Post of The Month (Comments): Dedications which is one of my favourite posts this month. It was so fun to go through all of my books and see the heart-warming and hilarious dedications.

Most Popular Post of The Month (Reads): Things That Make My Feminist Heart Beat a Little Faster which of course, makes my feminist heart beat a little faster.

  1. How nice that you spoiled your mother so much on Mother's day! So funny, it's in May for us. I should do something sweet for my mother too. I love that quote :)

  2. Natalieeee, I haven't watched The 100. I know I should though! You read a looooot of books this month omg. You go girl! Why did you have to mention One Direction!? I'm a mess, again. Sigh. I'm so excited that you got to see 5SOS, since I love them too. I'm curious about Geek Girl so now I think it's going on my TBR list and I didn't go see Insurgent and I was so excited for it to come out, bah! :/

    1. YOU NEED TO WATCH IT! NEED. TO. WATCH. IT.

Aha! Thank you! You should absolutely read Geek Girl - it's amazing. So funny and cute and GAH I love it.

The Insurgent movie was a bit of a dissapointment, I didn't like the book so I wasn't expecting much but it just didn't do anything spectacular for me.
