Today's Top Ten Tuesday (hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish) is all about which books we'd love to see as Movies or TV shows. Get ready for this - it's going to be a wild ride.
Throne of Glass (TV Show): I think this series would be so great as a TV series. For one, it's completely badass and would look absolutely incredible on the screen and for two, movies just aren't long enough and they'd have to cut out so much and there is not one scene that I could part with easily. The only issue I'd have with this is that there is probably not a casting sheet in the world that could satisfy me. Buy Book 1, 2, 3 Here.
The Raven Cycle (TV Show): I'm basically just asking for you to absolutely ruin me. If you don't think this would be absolutely perfect as a creepy, urban fantasy, all-the-feels TV show then we can't be friends. I'm sorry. Mostly I just want to see Bluesey, Pynch and OT5 come to life but it would give the creators the perfect chance to just go absolutely crazy. Think of all the cave scenes and how perfect they'd be. THINK OF CABESWATER. Get books 1, 2, 3 here.
Burn for Burn (Either): Although I've only read Burn for Burn I would absolutely love to see this as a Pretty Little Liars-esque TV show or movie. I think it could get so much attention from a huge audience - readers, horror/supernatural lovers, people who just love a story about revenge. Also, I may have a slight crush on Lillia and Alex so I just want to see them come to life. Bonus points if you can get the cover models to be the cast. If you're interested you can get books 1, 2, 3 here.
To All The Boys I've Loved Before (Movie): I don't think this would be a good TV show - there simply isn't enough plot force for it to be made into episodes but just sit back and imagine Peter K and Lara Jean on the big screen. *drools*. It would be the type of cute, rom-com movie that you just want to watch over and over. Movie people - please make this happen. Purchase book one and book two here.
Fangirl (Movie): This probably isn't a surprise. Although they'd have to cut a few parts out (like the fanfiction sections) I still think this would make the cutest, funniest, cheeriest movie for book lovers and geeks all over the world. I'm willing to do anything to make this happen. Anything. Buy Here.
Dangerous Girls (Movie): This was one of the first books that popped into my head when I read this topic. Dangerous Girls NEEDS to be a movie. It's salacious, gruesome, sensual and gritty. It's absolutely amazing. It's one of those books that unfold as a movie while you're reading it and you want to shove it into everyone's face. Purchase here.
All The Bright Places (Movie): I could see this turning out a little like The Fault In Our Stars aka everyone hating the idea of it being a movie and then ending up loving it anyway. If I'm honest, I just want to cry my eyes out to the film version of this. Finch is such a beautiful character and if I never get to see him come to life then I'll feel like it's a life been wasted. You can buy this book here.
The Selection (Movie): I'm aware now that these books are in fact being made into a movie and let me tell you, I've never been so excited in my life. I read all three of these books in April and they immediately turned into my most recent guilty pleasure. A lot of people don't like these books and a lot of people aren't happy that it's being made into a movie (which I don't get - if you don't like it then don't see it?? It's not hard.) but honestly, I'm ecstatic. All of the pretty dresses. Prince Maxon *heart eyes*.
Americanah (Movie): I couldn't think of two more books so I recruited two friends to tell me their answers. My friend Aagya said that she'd love to see Americanah as a movie because it has a really complex love story and also has a great exploration of race.
Airhead (TV Show): Georgia over at Giordizzle said that when she was reading this series a few years ago she always thought that would it make a great TV show.
This is the first I've heard about the Selection series being turned into movies! That's so exciting! I think it would translate really well onto the big screen, as would the Jenny Han books. I almost put The Raven Cycle on my list, but I have a hard time imagining a movie or tv series turn out the way these books deserve.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Tuesday.
I don't think that they could do the books justice but I'd like to see them try ;)
DeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
Throne of glass: YES and scary. They would have to get the casting spot-on, otherwise it would fail miserable and that would hurt my soul.
ReplyDeleteThe raven cycle: YES to this one too. Such a diverse casting, great plot and it would give such thrilling episodes.
Fangirl would make a great movie, one where a lot of people can identify with. Those fanfiction sections could be used every now and then with short animations? That would totally fit with the overall feeling of the book. Like when Hermione tells the story of the three brothers in HP.
I absolutely need Throne of Glass and The Raven Cycle to happen.
DeleteThat idea for Fangirl is a good one! YES. YES YES YES.
OMG The Raven Cycle, yessssss! I put it on my list too. Like imagine all the angst from Bluesey and Pynch, Nat, akjsdbaskdbaskjdbjask and the scenery?! Oh so beautiful. All those cute guys too, sigh. I knew Fangirl would make your list. And yep, I dig it, oh the cuteness. I think All the Bright Places is going to be a movie. Oh lord, all of the tears. i am going to need boxes and boxes of tissues. Baby Finch and Baby Violet </3.
ReplyDeleteTHE SELECTION, I WROTE THE EXACT SAME THING: "Pretty dresses and Prince Maxon" hahahahha, but honestly, gimme those two things and that's it.
Lovely list! I am definitely curious about Americanah now. I wanna read Chimamanda's work.
this is the best comment EVER.
Delete'I knew Fangirl would make your list' really????? I thought that would be a complete shock?!!?!?! ;)
