Beautiful, Bountiful Books

Tuesday, 30 December 2014
December brings Christmas Day, Christmas Day brings Boxing Day and Boxing Day brings...SALES. Of course, I had to go out and purchase some books for myself. Other books were very generously gifted to me from friends and family. As is custom in the blogosphere, I really really wanted to share all of the pretty books I acquired this Christmas season.

Fairytale Retelling Reading Challenge 2015

Friday, 12 December 2014
The Daily Prophecy
Hey Everyone! I'm excited to announce the first reading challenge that I'm doing for 2015 (and also the first ever reading challenge on this blog!). So the lovely Mel over at The Daily Prophecy is hosting the Fairytale Retelling Reading Challenge 2015. I'm really excited to be taking part as retellings have never been something that I'm looking forward to read and they're never books that I'd usually buy, however, the amount of retellings on my TBR list is growing so this is the perfect opportunity to finally get into them!

November Wrap Up

Monday, 1 December 2014
November was a disappointing month, I didn't do a lot and I certainly didn't read a lot. This post is going to be a short one.

Weird Bookish Things I Do

Thursday, 27 November 2014
I won't deny it. I'm a fangirl. Sometimes this leads to me flailing around, crying or squealing for no apparent reason. It also leads to a few awkward moments when talking about certain books *cough* TFIOS *cough* and over the years I've been reading, I've realised that I have a few weird habits when it comes to reading and I'm going to share them with you.

Slumps & Why I Don't Borrow Books

Monday, 24 November 2014
Recently I've found myself in a little bit of a pickle. I somehow managed to borrow a total of 7 books from various people within two weeks. And although this might be someone's idea of heaven it is my exact idea of hell, or well, not really, but close!

Fall Time, Cosy Time Book Tag

Thursday, 20 November 2014
I love Fall (or Autumn as it's called here in the Rest of the World), I love being cosy, I love books and I love this tag. I've seen it floating around on BookTube for a few weeks and I'm not sure if someone has brought it to the blogosphere yet but it looks like fun and I want to do it so here we are.

Dare You To by Katie McGarry

Friday, 14 November 2014
If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mum at all costs - until the day her uncle swoops in, and Beth finds herself starting over at a school where no one understands her. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does. Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock - with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him. But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image is risking everything for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all.

Top 5: Underrated Books.

Thursday, 13 November 2014

With a new week comes a new post and this post brings you my Top 5 Underrated Books. These are 5 books that I've read and absolutely loved but haven't seen many people talk about and I think they deserve to get some credit.

Disclaimer: I don't mean that these books aren't popular or haven't achieved much success I just mean that I don't see them talked about nearly as much as they should be either on booktube or in the blogosphere - I don't want to offend anyone with this post <3

A Collection of Quotes.

Saturday, 8 November 2014

As I was flicking through my quote book the other day I realised that I have quote a few favourite quotes from books that I love. Now some of these I am so obsessed with that I want to shout them from the rooftops but, of course, that would be extremely weird and I'm also a teeny (a lot) but afraid of heights so - why not do the next best thing.

My quote book is also separated into categories, look at me getting all fancy up in here.

Splintered by A.G. Howard

Friday, 7 November 2014
Splintered by A.G. Howard
Alyssa Gardner hears the thoughts of plants and animals. She hides her delusions for now, but she knows her fate: she will end up like her mother, in an institution. Madness has run in her family ever since her great-great-great-grandmother Alice Lidell told Lewis Carroll her strange dreams, inspiring his classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. But perhaps she's not mad. And perhaps Carroll's stories aren't as whimsical as they first seem. To break the curse of insanity. Alyssa must go down the rabbit hole and right the wrongs of Wonderland, a place full of strange beings with dark agendas. Alyssa brings her real-world crush - the protective Jeb - with her, but once her journey begins she's torn between his solidity and the enchanting, dangerous magic of Morpheus, her guide to Wonderland. But no one in Wonderland is who they seem to be - not even Alyssa herself...

October Wrap Up

Wednesday, 5 November 2014

Not a lot has happened in October. I had half-term which was a blessing and I'm proud of the books I read (even if I was hoping to read a lot more than I did).

Series I Want To Read

Monday, 3 November 2014
My TBR grows at least two books everyday - that's a lot of damn books. One thing I've noticed, however, is that a lot of these are series. But wait, what books do I not buy often? Ones that are a part of a series. Yes, It's a problem. I figure that by writing this post it'll spark me into starting some series and getting the majority of my TBR reduced. Here's to hoping.

Happy Halloween, From The Blogger Who Doesn't Read Horror.

Saturday, 25 October 2014

I have a confession to make - I, Natalie Kate, don't read horror. Now, I've read a few scary books in my lifetime but not enough to be posting my favourite horror books or to even make a post related to the Halloween season. Oops. I suppose it's something to do with me wanting to sleep at night and at seventeen years old, still believing that there is a man who lives beneath our floorboards. I do love Halloween (it might be because of the candy) so I wanted to make a Halloween appropriate post: here's my idea.

Mini Reviews

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

Since my previous post about me not being particularly fond of reviews a few people commented saying that a lot more bloggers now do mini reviews instead of full ones so I thought that I'd give it a shot. Here are my thoughts about some books that I've read so far this month.

20 Things You Didn't Know About Me

Saturday, 18 October 2014

It's Saturday night, I've spent the day cleaning my bedroom when I decide to check my blog feed and guess what I see? A fabulous tag floating around. So, that's what you'll (hopefully - unless you've come to the sudden realisation that you don't want to waste precious minutes reading facts about a teenage girl who spends her time fawning over pretty boys) be reading today.

On Why I Don't Like Reviews

Thursday, 9 October 2014

I don't like reviews. I don't like movie reviews, I don't like album reviews and I don't like book reviews. Which, is kind of a hard thing to not like when you're a book blogger. My bloglovin feed is overflowing with reviews, my YouTube subscription box is filled with reviews - What do I do? I ignore them. Really - I pretend like I never even saw them and I carry on my merry way.

September Wrap Up

Saturday, 4 October 2014

I always like knowing what people have been up to, maybe it's curiosity or maybe I'm just nosy; either way here is what I've been doing in the month of September - for the nosy streak in all of us.

I Have A Weakness

Monday, 22 September 2014
And it's for cheesy, passionate, squeal-inducing, cute contemporary novels.

I always make a promise to myself that I will read that fantasy book that's been sitting on my shelf for months and then the next thing you know I am laying in bed with one of those horribly, erotic looking covers (you know the ones - girl and boy typically making out most of the time in front of a beautiful sunset or in the middle of a torrential downpour) and then it isn't until a few hours later when I've finished the book that I realise it is exactly like the past three contemporary books I've read.

YA Tropes I Hate: Female Protagonists

Friday, 5 September 2014

Now I'm sure we all have those bookish pet peeves, whether it's dog-earing pages or simply cracking spines, it's something we have in common. But if there's one thing that really grinds my guts in YA novels it's an annoying female protagonist.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt/ I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't.

Welcome, FlowersInMyBooks

This all feels oddly formal so I'll probably just write up this post quickly so we can get to what we're all waiting for, THE BOOKS!

Sixteen year old me had been wanting to start a blog for a while, but never quite knew how to start, and now at Seventeen I couldn't be more excited to finally get down to business and start what I feel like will be a new chapter in my life (wow, are we really getting into book puns already).

Anyway, I'm Natalie, and I love books (and talking about books) so much it drove my family and friends crazy so I thought 'hell, why not turn to the internet' since I've figured out after many years of using (abusing) tumblr that half of the people on the internet have already been driven to insanity, so another book blog can't possibly hurt too much? right?

I'd firstly like to thank Eve for the beautiful design I couldn't be happier with it and then there is Sandra  (Tea Between Books) who has been such a great friend to me over the past couple of months and who has really helped me get the balls to finally start my own blog (even though she won't accept that Michael Clifford is clearly the better member of 5 Seconds of Summer).
