Captain Thorne, Cadet Thorne, Carswell Thorne, Thorne, or as I call him - My Future Husband. Whatever name you know him by, you know that he needs some appreciation. Appreciation and love. I'm gladly going to give it to him. So here you go Carswell, bathe in your glory.
- The first time we ever see him, he is literally sitting in a dungeon. If that doesn't scream 'let me have your criminal babies' I don't know what will.
- He's a criminal mastermind AND he's scared of bugs/rats/various sewer creatures. Oh, and he doesn't like crawling through sewers quite as much as Cinder does.
- He is completely, irreparably, unconditionally in love with himself. And I love it. No one has time for insecurities, especially not Captain Thorne (who loves himself so much he wants people to refer to him as captain, even though he is merely a Cadet - yet another reason to love him).
- He loves his spaceship to death. He protects his spaceship from being damaged. He guards his spaceship with the same ferocity that I guard my books.
- He flirts with Iko. Who is an android (although a very pretty android). I, just. I can't. He's too much.
- He's a beautiful creature.
- He's also just damn hilarious.
- He's carswell thorne.
- Even when there is nothing but dark ahead of him, he still soldiers on. He's a trooper. He deserves that captain status.
- 'I promise, I will not let you die without being kissed'
- CRESS. LITERALLY JUST CRESS.
- He's pretty much the Nikolai of the Lunar Chronicles, sarcastic, full of himself, and unable to escape my love.
- His less than stellar flying skills and his adamancy that his flying skills are way above average.
- "Do you think it was destiny that brought us together?" He squinted and, after a thoughtful moment, shook his head. "No I'm pretty sure it was Cinder. Why?"
- "Believe me, Cress. The pleasure was all mine" AYE AYE CAPTAIN.
Nikolai of the Lunar Chronicles???? I need to meet this guy already. You may have just convinced me to start this series sooner than later. ;) Great post, Natalie!

ReplyDeleteOK WE SHOULD DO A READALONG FOR WINTER (ALTHOUGH IDK WHEN IT COMES OUT OR IF I'LL HAVE IT WHEN IT COMES OUT)
He is sarcastic and I LOVE THAT. Plus, he stole an airship and managed to hide it.
ReplyDeleteSarcastic, sassy AND smart. it's WONDERFUL.
DeleteYES, THORNE. I totally agree that he is the Nikolai of The Lunar Chronicles, because they're both sassy and adorable and completely lovable.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe that I haven't read CRESS yet? What even? I binged CINDER and SCARLET last year, and then I had to wait for CRESS and then I just ... never read it. And I even bought a copy in January! I am terrible. Just terrible. Maybe I will binge the remaining books when Winter comes out? Sounds like a plan. A PLAN FOR LOTS OF THORNE *cheering and dancing*
(Although I won't mention that I actually like Wolf a little more but I mean I am an animal lover and he's like part wolf and wolves are my favourite so shhhhhh)
THERE IS SO MUCH THORNE IN CRESS. (Although I have a feeling you'll be a little disappointed).
