A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab: My rating for this book isn't as high as I wanted it to be purely because of that fact that, for me, it took so long for things to get interesting. The concept of ADSOM is very complex and was hard for me to grasp at first so I spent around 50 pages being quite confused and then the next 100 or so just not enjoying it very much. I'm glad that I stuck around to finish ADSOM because, oh boy, did it bring a storm. The characters we're all beautifully written, they each had their own distinct voice and are so well developed that I grew very attached to some of them. I know that a lot of people have said that they loved it even more the second time around so I might give this a re-read soon enough and see how I feel. All in all though, it's a good book and despite being disappointed by all the hype, I didn't hate it. 3.5/5 Stars. Buy here.
Amy & Roger's Epic Detour: My first thought after finishing this book was 'why do books have to end?' I would gladly read about Amy & Roger's various road trips forever and ever. After being immensely disappointed with Second Chance Summer I'm so glad that I decided to put my utmost faith into Amy & Roger's. It's an absolutely stunning book, filled with emotion, adventure, laughs, music and love. I will be forever grateful that I got to travel along with Amy & Roger as they found not only themselves, but each other and learned that the best discoveries happen to those who aren't looking for them. I can't put into words how happy this book made me, I'll just leave you to discover it for yourself. 5/5 Stars. Buy here.
Cress by Marissa Meyer: Cress was absolutely perfect. I didn't know if I would like the Lunar Chronicles and up until Cress I didn't think that the series would live up to the hype but holy crap does it live up to the hype. Cress was funny, fast-paced, cleverly written and action-packed from beginning to end. There was never a dull moment, as can be expected with a group of characters as diverse and intense as these. If you want to learn more about my favourite character from this series check out this post here. I am in awe of this book. The plot was phenomenal and seeing the story being carried out before my eyes was even better. 5/5 Stars. Buy here.
Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler: I am an empty shell of a human after reading this beautiful, heart-wrenching book. That's all I will say. 5/5 Stars. Buy here.

DeleteIt's my favourite by Morgan Matson too!
I think Why We Broke Up is the type of book to have completely split views. AH.
I was super unimpressed with A Darker Shade of Magic too... I feel like it's been bigged up by lots of book bloggers, but I just... didn't get it? I couldn't connect with the characters, which was sad. But Cress was great, so I'm glad you enjoyed that!

I think I started believing the hype too much that when I finally got to it I was just disappointed because I was waiting for this 'magic' to happen and it just wasnt there for me.
DeleteThanks! I'm super stoked for Winter now.
