16 Things I've Learned In 2016

Saturday, 31 December 2016

Hello, it's Natalie. Back from the dead. Or at least that what it feels like now that I've been away for so long. I am, however, back with some good news that I hope will make me feel much better about posting on here from now on. Flowers In My Books is no longer a book blog. No, my friends, Flowers In My Books is now a wherever-the-mood-takes-me, lifestyle-fun-music-movies-rants-and-feminism-also-books blog. You may have noticed that I've been feeling a little uninspired with this blog lately, and since uni is taking over my reading schedule I wanted to make a change and I hope that you're as excited about this as I am.

Since 2016 is coming to an end (finally! goodbye evil, evil year) I wanted to do a little wrap up of all of the things that I've learned over the past 12 months, as silly and minuscule as they may be.

1) New Years Resolutions are obsolete. There's no point in even making them.

2) Flying to somewhere outside of Europe and being on a plane for 13 hours is actually possible and not too awful.

3) Holidays outside of Europe aren't that bad either.

4) Wear sun cream even when only going outside for 10 minutes in the midday Mexican sun.

5) Seriously. Wear sun cream.

6) Being vegetarian is great. There are also not as many guilty feelings about finding sheep cute.

7) Being able to hold your alcohol is a great skill to have.

8) But it only takes one more drink to go over the edge and then it's all tripping in the middle of the road and twisting ankles.

9) Loving your friends an awful lot is fine. And acceptable.

10) Yellow is a great colour.

11) Travelling is fucking fun, man.

12) Flying alone isn't so scary either.

13) Moving out of home isn't that easy, but it's also not that bad. There will be a family at home, and a family at Uni.

14) Everything is exciting and fun when studying something you love.

15) Everything is exciting and fun.

16) Christmas is still the best thing in the world. Ever.

  1. The suncream is all too real for me. All I have to do is be outside in general and I'm burnt up. Great list!

  2. don't mind me natalie... just catching up on all your posts i've not read yet...

definitely agree with your first one. i didn't even bother making resolutions for 2017 because i reallyyy did not stick to my resolutions from last year. although i think if i am to make only one resolution this year, it would be to finally go vegetarian (was reminded of this by your sixth item!). i have been on and off vegetarian all of 2016 but i would like to stick to it this year.

hahahah i laughed at #7. that's something i learned this year too but alas, not a skill i have (yet?).

and aww, 9-16 just warmed my heart.

    have a great 2017 natalie! <33
