As it goes, I wasn't meant to go to either of these shows, meaning that I didn't actually get tickets but fate has a way of working itself and fate REALLY wanted me to go. The first time Halsey put her tickets up for sale, I didn't get one. Then she put up more tickets for sale and the website wouldn't work. As I was complaining to my friend, Georgia, she told me that she had one in her basket and wanted to know if I wanted her to order it for me. DUH. The second ticket was that another friend of mine, Georgina, had a few spare and offered me one. Again, DUH. So now with my tickets - theoretically - in my hands, I was ready to embark on this adventure.
This was actually my first day back at college and off I went with two bags packed and ready for the next three days at my friends house. Start as you mean to go on, I guess. College was better than I thought it would be - I was having major anxiety over starting again. As soon as it finished I headed off to the train station to meet my friends before commencing out 24 hour camp. Yes, you heard right. The six of us decided to camp outside the venue to ensure that we got barrier. It was freezing cold and slightly creepy (being that we were completely alone with only the few security) at times but at least it was better than December. And HEY! Georgina provided us with blankets. Luckily, there was a 24-hour McDonalds just down the road from us if we needed to pee throughout the night. I don't have any pictures from the actual camp - due to it being dark and me being to cold to move my arms and wanting to conserve my battery after the TRAGEDY that was my portable charger deciding to fail on me - so you won't be able to see us looking rough. Terribly sorry.
As soon as the clock hit 6am (and after a very fitful, very cold nap) a few of us headed to the Starbucks to warm up a little, charge our phones and of course indulge in a PSL (Although, Aimee, bless her heart, ending up having the disgrace of drinking a Peppermint Latte because the man misheard her order). I ended up buying more tights, getting McDonalds breakfast and then went back to the venue to commence the next half of our camp which proved to be a little more stressful than the first half since we were then told that there would be an O2 priority queue which meant we might not be let in first but around 300th. Yep. I know. The 6 of us filled up on sweets, had a few swigs of Vodka and, of course, glittered up and then we were ready. Thankfully the security at the venue heard our pleas and decided that because we were so dedicated and had been there since 8pm the night before that they would let us in ahead of the priority queue so WE GOT BARRIER. I could have cried because I was so happy and overwhelmed and it was just a beautiful moment.
Halsey is such a stunning performer and such a beautiful woman and I am so happy that I got the opportunity to not only see her perform live for the very first time in London but to be so close and to have her literally stand over me and my friends (you can see in the last picture). Not to mention that she threw her water over me and Aimee (second picture) and it was truly a religious experience. I'm tearing up just thinking about this show because it means so much to me. I love Halsey a lot a lot a lot and if any of you are ever hesitant about getting tickets to a show I completely urge you to attend because there is nothing that can compare. (I don't actually remember who took which photo but none except the third one are mine so credit to my pals). Georgina was given Halsey's setlist after the show and Ash was handed one of her water bottles. Honestly, seeing my friends so happy during and after the show is one of the best feelings in the world.
Friday was our party day, so to speak. We'd obviously gotten barrier the day before so none of us were that bothered about queuing to get a good place in the venue. We met up with a few other friends and that's how the Halsey Street Team 2k15 came to be. This venue was at KOKO in Camden so we didn't have any qualms about spending the day walking around and drinking wine from various plastic bottles
We saw a wall with loads of poetry written down so we headed to Poundland, picked up some chalk and wrote some of our own poetry. This was after we went to 'The Diner' and filled ourselves up on Mac and Cheese and fries that could make a grown man cry. Oh, and we glittered up. What's a Halsey show without glitter? Nothing. We soon realised that the wine wasn't enough so Lucy dragged us to a Tequila Bar where we had cocktails and a few of us had some shots of tequila
That last picture is of us (minus two) with the opening act. We have no idea who the guy in the back is so please don't ask. He obviously just felt left out.
I've never done anything like this but it looks like you had so much fun! Ironically enough I was just listening to the album on my way home from school today xD What songs are your favorite? I'm in love with Colors pt. II and Gasoline right now!
ReplyDeleteGASOLINE!!! I think Colours will always be a fave of mine but I adore Young God and Control and Gasoline and DRIVE oh god I love them all.
DeleteI would just die if I listened to Control live. *dies* Thanks so much for sharing your adventures, Natalie.
ReplyDeleteControl was beautiful live. 'God damn right you should be scared of me' is one of those lines that the whole crowd yelled at the top of their lungs and it was just mesmerising. GAH.
