Dear Readers, // A Letter to...

Wednesday 31 December 2014

'A Letter to...' is a new feature on the blog in which I address a post to someone or something that I want to share with my readers. It could be an influential book, a person/author whom I look up to or just something that popped into my mind. It was heavily inspired by this post over at TeaBetweenBooks

Dear Readers,

Yes. Those are Spider-Man sheets.

Today is New Years Eve 2014 and usually I'd be spending it with the same friend I'd spent the last 4 years seeing in the New Year with. This year is a little different though and some reasons are more bitter than sweet, however, looking back on the past year, I don't think I'd change a single thing.

For one thing, I started blogging in 2014 be that on TeaBetweenBooks (Hi, Sandra) or right here. I also made a lot of new friends in 2014 and I've made a LOT of memories with them. Since 2015 will be my first full year of blogging I wanted to share some of my blogging related resolutions with you guys.

  • Post at least twice a week.
I have a feeling this one will be extremely difficult for me when including factors such as school work, reading time, family time etc and especially those weeks when I'm lacking in the creative department but whether it be a haul, a tag or a discussion I want to put out content for you guys. After all, what's the point in having a blog if you're not going to write.

  • Make sure they are quality posts.
This pretty much goes without saying but I've written posts that I'm not particularly proud of just so that I could get them out there and on the blog instead of it being the quality content that I'm proud to have written. This coming year I'm going to try and write more discussions and reviews to cover up the fact that sometimes I'm lacking inspiration and want to do a tag. If I end up not doing enough reviews, please feel free to hit me - or maybe just send me an angry worded email/tweet.

  • Write more reviews.
I've mentioned before in a post that I don't like reviews. I don't like writing them and unless I've read the book or am really interested about the book then I don't like reading them either. What I do like, however, is getting my opinion of a book out there instead of me rambling and making no sense whatsoever just saying 'but like CELEANA IS SO COOL and it's just such a KICKASS book OHMYGODILOVEDIT' which is basically what happened when I tried to review Heir of Fire. I will get better at reviews, I will, I will.

  • Read more books.
I read about a total of 40 books in 2014 which is not good at all. My goal for this year is 50-105 books and I'm hoping to reach the latter in order to put out quality content and squash my ever growing TBR (honestly, the 50 books goal is just there so that I don't feel guilty if I don't read 105 books). Also, I just love reading and I don't think that I do enough of it. Darn Gossip Girl for taking over my life.

  • Be more organised.
This is more of a general resolution - be more organised in real life AND my blogging life. I just want to be able to stick to some kind of schedule and go back through old posts and editing them should they need editing and fixing broken links. Whatever needs to be organised, will be organised (I'm hoping).

Woah, that was nervewracking, hopefully now that those are out in the world I'll be able to stick to them - talk about pressure. Did you write any resolutions for this year or are you just going to wing it and see how it goes?

  1. No set resolutions for me, but I'm excited about yours! I think two posts a week is a good number, but don't ever feel ad if you can't manage it. Life happens!

And hey, don't feel bad about only reading 40 books this year. I think my number was similar, and even then 1/4 of those were probably novellas/short stories. I'm such a small reader compared to other bloggers. Ah well. I don't think it matters because I love books just as much, no? Or at least I try to prove I do through my blog XP

Hope you have an amazing 2015!

    1. Sometimes I find it so crazy how much other people read (there's a booktuber I watch who literally reads around 20 books a month) and I'm sitting there shaking my head thinking 'how do you find the time?!' especially when there's so many TV shows to watch and FOOD to eat.

Thanks Asti and I hope you have a great New Year! :)

  2. (Hi Natalie) Actually I wanted to write a full post about writing posts and the quality of content since I went back through the posts before my blogging slump and oh lord they're bad. I don't really care for writing full reviews to be honest, I think Goodreads is enough to put my basic thoughts out there. I don't really mind about the number of books I read next year, since I expect uni to get in my way more than before but 50 seems reasonable tbh. Have an awesome New Year's! :D

    1. Haha! I want to at least bulk up my review page a little bit - it's looking quite sad at the moment. I feel that every other blogger right now isn't worried about how many books they read anymore but since I just start started I'm still feeling that I need to read ALL the books ALL the time.

      Have a lovely 2015 Sandra! <3

  3. First of all, LOVE the Spider-Man sheets! That said, we have a lot of the same goals this year. I want to write at least 2 posts a week and also read 105 books. I hope you reach all your goals in 2015 and let it be the year of amazing books!

  4. Well, I knew this post was going to go great when I saw it started with Spider-Man sheets. I'm terrible with resolutions, but I hope you fulfill yours and that your resolutions make you happy!

And 40 books is a good achievement! I mean, I'm sure watching all of Gossip Girl is too, especially since it seems like there are a lot of seasons. And the GIFs all look great too. :D

    1. Nothing like a little bit of Spider-Man to get the mood going ;)

Gossip Girl IS a lot of work, I'm not finished yet though. Actually I'm nowhere near finished (still have three seasons to go eek) but it's SO addictive. Every time I close my eyes I see the Upper East Side.
